IGNIS has obtained Prior Administrative Authorization (AAP) by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge for the project of hybridization of the Peaker power plant in Escatrón (Zaragoza)) with renewable generation facilities.
This milestone represents a a decisive step in the company's strategy by integrating clean energy into existing facilities, optimizing resources and moving towards a a more sustainable and efficient energy model.
The project includes the installation of three wind farms that will have wind turbines of 6 MW unit power and a photovoltaic plant of 47.2 MW within the municipalities of Sástago, Chiprana, Caspe, and Escatrón. The total installed capacity will be 311.2 megawatts (MW), higher than the current power of the thermal power plant (274.6 MW).
The AAP, granted on September 29, 2025, authorizes the construction of these facilities, which already had a favorable Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) since March.
IGNIS maintains a historical connection with Aragon, where in 2016 it acquired the Peaker power plant in Escatrón, one of the company's first assets. This milestone, in addition to marking a decisive step in the company's contribution to the energy transition, reaffirms the link with Escatrón, where the company began its journey, and with Aragon, reinforcing a sustainable energy system and driver of the local economy.
With the acquisition of this AAP, IGNIS reinforces its role as key player in the Spanish energy transition, promoting the integration of renewable technologies into existing infrastructure to move towards a more sustainable and efficient electric model.
