IGNIS Energ\u00eda, part of the Spanish IGNIS group and a leading company in asset representation and participation in balancing services with renewables in Spain, has made history in Portugal. On Tuesday, February 4, IGNIS Energ\u00eda became the first independent aggregator[1]<\/strong>\u00a0authorized to participate in Portugal\u2019s balancing services\u2014and to do so with renewable power plants.<\/p>\n As a pioneer in renewable participation in balancing services across Europe<\/strong> and the leading independent power company in secondary regulation (aFRR) in Spain<\/strong>, IGNIS Energ\u00eda has now achieved the milestone of being the first company to actively participate in Portugal\u2019s balancing services with renewable energy assets<\/strong>. The company\u2019s goal is to optimize renewable generation, enhance competitiveness, and improve the integration of renewable plants into electrical systems.<\/p>\n To achieve this milestone, IGNIS Energ\u00eda has worked hand in hand with Portugal\u2019s system operator, REN<\/strong>, over the past months. This collaboration will help optimize the value of these assets in electricity markets and increase competition in the Portuguese system, ultimately benefiting consumers by lowering electricity costs.<\/p>\n These advantages were presented by IGNIS Energ\u00eda at REN\u2019s workshop, \u201cMercado de Servi\u00e7os de Sistemas e os Desafios da Integra\u00e7\u00e3o da Produ\u00e7\u00e3o Renov\u00e1vel\u201d<\/strong>, which took place on Tuesday, February 18.<\/p>\n This achievement is part of IGNIS Energ\u00eda\u2019s ambitious expansion plan<\/strong> for renewable asset representation in Portugal, which aims to reach over 1 GW of renewable assets under representation by the end of 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The company\u2019s growth has been exponential since it began its representation activity in the Spanish electricity market in 2019<\/strong>, expanding from 500 MW to over 8,000 MW<\/strong> across various technologies in both Spain and Portugal over the past five years.
