Advancing Conservation: First Tagging of a Bonelli’s Eagle at Limonero Solar

IGNIS, in collaboration with the University of Valencia, has carried out the first tagging of a Bonelli’s eagle with a GPS/GSM device in the area where the future Limonero Solar plant will be developed, in Requena (Valencia).

This milestone represents a key step forward in the conservation of local biodiversity, as it will enable detailed monitoring of the behaviour and condition of these birds of prey throughout all phases of the project. Thanks to the data collected, environmental teams will gain a better understanding of the species’ flight patterns, feeding areas, and territorial use, thereby promoting sustainable coexistence between the development of renewable energy and wildlife.

With this initiative, we aim to responsibly integrate renewable energy into the environment, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and environmental protection. Actions like this ensure that the deployment of new infrastructure does not compromise the conservation of sensitive species.

Through this project, we reaffirm our commitment to balancing energy progress with biodiversity preservation, working alongside leading institutions to ensure respectful, science-based development.
