WE BOOST GLOBAL ENERY TRANSITION
Since its inception, IGNIS has had a clear purpose: to promote a more efficient and sustainable energy model, contributing to an agile and fair energy transition and encouraging decarbonisation of all sectors, both in industry and among large and small consumers.
It is also committed to the design and development of innovative energy storage projects to maximise the integration of renewables in electricity systems, and new energy vectors such as hydrogen or green ammonia, in order to transfer the impact of renewables to other electro-intensive sectors.
Towards neutrality
IGNIS has obtained the seals “Calculo y Compenso” awarded by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, which recognise companies that, in addition to calculating greenhouse gas emissions, reduce them and go one step further by offsetting part of the carbon footprint.
IGNIS will be carbon neutral by 2039
IGNIS will avoid 2,608t of CO2 thanks to the development of solar projects. In addition, it is committed to reducing its emissions through its Footprint Reduction Programme, which is materialised through various initiatives:
Self-consumption by means of solar panels in combined-cycle plant offices.
New plug-in hybrid and e-cars policy for the company’s car fleet.
Guaranteed electricity supply to all Group’s buildings.
ATTENTION TO BIODIVERSITY
IGNIS integrates biodiversity assessment from the earliest stages of projects through environmental pre-feasibility studies, avoiding locations in ecosystems of high ecological value and seeking consensus in the areas where we operate.
The design of projects and accompanying environmental measures are guided by the mitigation hierarchy principle (avoid, minimise, restore and ultimately offset) and, in the case of offsets, the principle of ‘no net loss‘ of biodiversity by ruling out development opportunities that are incompatible with the environmental values of the area.
