A new green ammonia project in Castelló de la Plana
In the development of its strategic energy transition plan, IGNIS plans to submit in the coming days the application to the Directorate General of Industry, Energy and Mines of the Dirección General de Industria, Energía y Minas de la Consellería de Economía Sostenible, Sectores Productivos, Comercio y Trabajo of the Generalitat Valenciana for the declaration of Proyecto Territorial Estratégico (PTE) of the plant for processing and storage of green hydrogen and ammonia from renewable sources that the company plans to develop in Castelló de la Plana.
The project, distributed in three phases, is expected to produce up to 850,000 tons/year of Green Ammonia, which will be used mainly for the decarbonization of industrial consumption in Europe. It will involve an investment of more than 1 billion euros in the three phases of the project and the construction of the entire project will be completed around 2031.
The Plant’s production unit is expected to be located on land annexed to the Port, while the storage of Green Ammonia for shipment will be located in the port facilities themselves.
IGNIS has more than 30,000 MW of projects under development in Spain and 10 other countries, and bases its growth strategy, among others, on real-time energy management, where it has a 6% market share at the national level, providing sustainable solutions for its projects to industrial consumers.
